We were very blessed to have family and a few friends over to celebrate Annakate’s first birthday party. The party was held a week ago at my in-law’s residence with a Winnie the Pooh theme centered around the Hundred Acre Wood.
Before I go any further, I guess I should state: this being Annakate’s first party (she has only a few baby friends), it was more of a party for the grown ups. In a way, we are celebrating our first anniversary as parents too.
For the decor, much of it I did it by hand. But, even the ones I did not were all inexpensive items from Walmart or Dollar Tree. The only thing I got from Party City was the Winnie The Pooh danglers to show more of the theme around the house.

I had my sisters in law to help me with putting up the decors while I was busy with Annakate. I used mostly solid colors of yellow and pink to represent Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. The reason why I chose these two colors instead of yellow and red is to show the feminine side (read: Annakate is a GIRL!).

There is nothing wrong in getting only solid colors items instead of theme-based ones; it helps to keep you on a budget without putting a hole in your wallet. I don’t think many parents would want to spend a ton on a first birthday party which their child will not even remember.

I must thank my sister in law Olivia for baking such yummy cake pops and the adorable Pooh cupcakes. Aren’t they cute? Annakate’s birthday cake was pre-ordered from Ukrops bakery at Martin’s grocery store. I am not into baking and have not baked since I was pregnant. One day…one fine day, I would love to bake a cake for my girl in future.

So this was more of a party for adults than it was about a baby. We didn’t do games or favors or anything like that, and she obviously needed some assistance with the unwrapping of gifts and blowing out of candles.
Annakate was absolutely having lots of fun. She was so busy running around the house, playing with her friends, and enjoying her birthday presents.

I even did a giant photo frame for snapshot purposes and created the hashtag #KKFIRSTBDAY for social media junkies.

I must thank all those who were there for Annakate’s 1st birthday and remember…
