Autumn, or fall, is such a gorgeous time of the year.

The fall season is rather short but beautiful. We are being presented a spectacular show of colour and richness before we plunged in to winter. The cool nights, vivid colors, and smells of fresh rain on the pavement often trigger a sense of nostalgia and deep thoughts.
Without further delay, let me tell you the 7 things I enjoy most about fall:
#1 The Colours

I just simply adore the golden reddish brown colours of the trees. I love to see the trees slowly changing as each day passes, shifting to increasingly brilliant colours until a final blaze of glory before becoming completely barren.

#2 The Cooler Weather
It’s the perfect weather. The days get shorter and colder. It’s not freezing cold like winter, but rather, a pleasantly cool relief from the simmering summer. This is unlike Malaysia, where there aren’t four seasons, where we had to endure either heavy downpour or the blazing hot sun with unpleasant sticky humidity. With this cooler temperature there is no doubt as to why I fell in love with fall.
#3 The Fall Fashion

I love the way our clothes reflect the time of the year with knit scarves, cardigans, and down vests. And, something I have been waiting months for, I can slip into my favourite pair of boots. It’s fun having a wide variety of cardigan, jackets, and trench coats to mix and match with ornamental scarves and hats.
#4 The Halloween

Pumpkins are ubiquitous during the Halloween season. It is when we carve all kinds of expressions on this gigantic orange-colored fruit.

Besides the pumpkins, it is definitely a treat seeing all of the neighborhood children dressed up as they go door to door for candy. Many of them put a lot of effort into transforming themselves into ghosts, zombies, or super heroes. Having them come to our door and asking for a “trick or treat” sure is fun. I’m not certain what kind of trick I could give them but I gladly give them a candy treat! The frightfully spooky decorations everywhere complete the atmosphere for this yearly tradition.
#5 Thanksgiving
This yearly holiday is meant to remind us to give thanks for all that we have. Thank you for the ones we love. Thank you for all of our many blessings. This year will be my first time experiencing it. From what I understand, it is very much like Chinese New Year, with family visits and entirely too much delicious food such as roast turkey–the center of many traditional meals. Oh, I must not forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday which I totally missed last year.
#6 Cinnamon Scent
Oh, the sweet smell of autumn. This mainstay of seasonal scents delightfully tickles your nose to remind you to slow down and enjoy what is changing around you. I can’t wait to light up these cinnamon scented tealight candles around the house tonight.
#7 Apple Cider
When the temperature starts dropping, try sipping a nice hot cup of apple cider. Tastefully spicy and comfortably warming, this time-honored beverage is a delicious way to relax and enjoy the wonders of autumn.
The list could go and on but I will stop at seven.
I wish I could write more on the things I love about fall but as you might already know, I have a fall baby who monopolizes my limited time. Happy Autumn, everyone!
